COMPETITION RULES

Read all important rules below

It is essential for participant to:

  • be completely aware of the length and specificity of the event and to be perfectly prepared for it;
  • know how to confront, without outside help, climatic conditions that could be very difficult to deal with (night, wind, cold, fog, rain or snow)
  • know how to manage, physical or mental problems arising from great fatigue, digestive problems, muscle or articular pains,
  • be conscious that the organization’s role is not to help a runner manage these problems.

Runners younger than 18 years old cannot participate in the TE Skymarathon and TE Skyrace races. Competitors under the age of 18 on the day of the race (for participation in other races) must obtain parental consent.

Runners younger than 14 years old on the date of the event, can only participate with parents.

Each competitor must sign the Declaration of Liability at the competition center (bring your ID, please).

The organizer reserves the right to cancel or interrupt the race at any time in case of force majeure, unforeseeable situation or violation of the safety of race participants and other persons. In case of cancellation of the race due to the mentioned reasons, the participants are not entitled to compensation.

The organizer reserves the right to join or cancel the race in case of an insufficient number of registered competitors (minimum 20 completed entries).

It is strictly forbidden to leave garbage (tubes, bags, plastic…) along the path. Garbage bags will be available at each refreshment station.

Competitors are required to carry their trash with them all the way to the first refreshment station where they can throw it away. It is mandatory to follow the marked path, without shortening it, so as not to cause additional damage to the natural environment.

One of the basic rules of the race itself is that the competitor is semi-autonomous during the race. This means it has the capacity to be autonomous between two charging stations.

During the entire race, the competitor must have all the mandatory equipment with them. The competitor carries the equipment in a backpack that is marked when picking up the start package and start number and must not be changed during the race. At any moment of the race, the judge on the track has the right to determine the authenticity of the backpack and its contents.

At refreshment stations, the organizer provides water and food to be consumed on the spot, as well as water to refill bottles or hydration bladders. The competitor must take care that, at the time of leaving the refreshment station, he has sufficient water and food until the next refreshment station.

The help of a follower (a member of the follow-up team) is allowed only at pre-planned refreshment stations and in the space provided for that purpose. Assistance to the competitor is provided exclusively by one team member.

It is forbidden to follow a competitor on any part of the track by a person who is not a competitor himself, except in the area of the refreshment station, on a part of the route that is specially marked.

The race bib must be worn on the chest or stomach and be permanently and completely visible throughout the totality of the race. It must always be placed on top of all clothing and can in no case be positioned on a leg or pack.

The organization ensures the presence of solid and liquid refreshments along the race-route. The organization supplies water for filling water bottles/hydration packs and personal beakers are obligatory. The runner must take care, when leaving each refreshment post, to ensure they have sufficient food and drink to last them to the next refreshment post.

A check is carried out at the arrival at a refreshment post and at certain security posts. Unexpected checkpoints are set-up at posts other than those of refreshment or security posts. The organisation does not disclose their location.

The route is marked with PVC tapes placed on the surrounding trees or flags stuck in the ground.

For better orientation at night, the markings will be supplemented with pieces of reflective material.

WARNING: If you don’t come across a marking for more than 100-200 meters, be sure to go back to the last one you passed.

The mountain rescue service and the mobile medical team will be on the course for the duration of the race.

Each competitor must help any person in danger AND notify the security service.

Given the nature of the race and the characteristics of the terrain, the competitor may have to wait longer than expected for assistance. The safety and comfort of the competitor in such situations depend on the equipment he carries with him.

The competitor must stay on the marked route no matter what, even if it is necessary to sleep for some time.

It is not allowed to run with dogs (or other animals), regardless of whether they are released or on a leash.

The maximum time for the event, for the totality of the route is fixed at:

  • TE Skymarathon – 12 hours
  • TE Skyrace – 7 hours
  • TE Skytrail – 3 hours

Time barriers will also be placed along the route. These time barriers are calculated to allow participants to arrive at the finish within the maximum time allowed while having made eventual stops (rest, food…). In order to be authorized to continue with an event, competitors must leave the checkpoint before the fixed time (whatever their time of arrival at the checkpoint).

If you finish within the time limit, you will receive a finisher’s medal.

Except in the case of injury, a runner must not abandon outside of a checkpoint. They must inform the person responsible for the post. In the case of the decision to abandon between two checkpoints, the runner must go to the nearest checkpoint where they announce their abandonment.
In the case of an injury, the competitor should notify the security team by phone or ask the competitor passing by him to notify the chief of the next post.
